UN POCO DE HISTORIA:
Las locomotoras de la clase PtL 2/2 eran locomotoras tanque para trenes de pasajeros en líneas locales. Eran muy ligeras y compactas, de vapor sobrecalentado, con un sistema de carga de carbón semiautomático por gravedad, lo que hacía que no precisasen de fogonero, de modo que sólo iba el maquinista en ellas. La cabina casi cubría el completo de la locomotora, con grandes ventanalesa acristaldos, motivo por el que se las llamó Glaskasten(=caja de cristal).
Se fabricaron en cuatro subseries, con variantes entre ellas; una por Maffei y las otras tres por Krauss.
