UN POCO DE HISTORIA:
De esta locomotora se fabricaron tres subseries: 6001-6002, con una longitud entre topes de 9.065 mm; 6003-6091, con 9.165 mm; y 6092-6097, con 9.265 mm.
Fueron construídas por Krauss entre 1909 y 1915 y estuvieron operativas hasta los años sesenta. En total se construyeron 97 locomotoras que se caracterizaban por la larga distancia (4.000 ó 4.050 mm, según la subserie) entre el eje libre y el primer eje portante.
A la DB pasaron 89 locomotoras, que las matriculó en la serie 70 0. Cuatro (números 70 086, 70 092, 70 095 y 70 096, renumeradas en la ÖBB en la serie 770) estuvieron en Austria, como compensación por la guerra. La última en uso, la 70 083, fue rechazada en 1963 por la Dirección General de Ferrocarriles de Nuremberg y fue puesta en un pedestal en Mühldorf/Inn como monumento; en 2005 la Asociación local de Amigos del Ferrocarril la restauró y pusó en orden de marcha.
